Another Maiden Voyage – Episode 43

EPISODE 43

How about something new just in time for the holidays?  While Roussanne isn’t a new wine, it’s the first time we’ve featured it on Northwest Wine Night.  And because it’s new to the show, we have two very different Roussannes to try and illustrate the spectrum of this variety.  This is our Thanksgiving show because we’re taking the 28th off so everyone can be with their families.  Not a lot of turkeys in this episode, but there were plenty of laughs and a few gobbles.  The wine was delicious, and so were this episode’s Twitter hash tags:

#SweatyMechanic #HappyThanksgiving  —  Use these as you tweet about @NWWineNight

WINE FEATURED IN THIS EPISODE:  To make it easier for you to follow along and make a few notes, we’re going to tell you something the panelists NEVER know until they pick their favorites…the names of the wines, and which is number one, and which is number two…

1.————2011 Roussanne, Lauren Ashton Cellars, Woodinville WA

2.———–2012 Roussanne, Patterson Cellars, Woodinville WA

PANELISTS:  We’re joined this time by regular favorites Travis Mayfield of Sinclair Broadcasting and Marina Rockinger of Star 101.5 in Seattle.  Also joining us at the table, the lovely Kristi Waite, Internet Goddess at KOMO, as well as Andrew Januik of Novelty Hill Januik.  Should we have referred to him as “the lovely Andrew Januik” to be fair?  While he was lovely, we also want him to come back!

FILMING LOCATION:  We’re in the heart of Woodinville Wine Country.   Talk about a beautiful place, we’re at the incomparable Novelty Hill Januik tasting room, in their beautiful private room (it’s available for your next party!)  Thanks so much to everyone at Novelty Hill Januik who made this such a great night of filming!

THANKS FOR WATCHING!  Be sure to share this episode with your other wine-drinking friends.  We release new episodes EVERY Thursday during the course of our season.  And keep in mind if you’d like to be introduced to the great liquor and beer being made in the Northwest, we have siblings for that!  Be sure to check out both Northwest Beer Night and Northwest Liquor Night.

The next new episode of Northwest Wine Night will premiere right here on the website Thursday, December 5th.
